We bought a Panasonic 40" (40C400Z) to update our old CRT 27". After hearing the decidedly mediocre sound quality (why can't lower-end televisions include great sound?) we also added an LG soundbar a few days later. They both work well enough together. However, the Panasonic has started showing a weird little problem.Every so often, I'll wake up during the night and wander past the soundbar and notice that it's been turned on recently and hasn't shut down again. The television can activate the soundbar when the television turns on, however the television hasn't been on, nor had I turned it on. The only reason I actually noticed is because the display on the LG soundbar says "Optical" instead of being blank in power-save mode.This morning, things were a little different. At 6:03 am I turned on a bedside light (CFL lamp), and after about a half minute or so-the average boot-up time, the television turned on in the lounge with Peter Williams reading the 6:00 news. I didn't press any buttons on the remote, I didn't even press a button on the television itself, just turned on a light.To the best of my knowledge, the television doesn't contain software to turn on at a specific time, nor would I have chosen to wake up with the birds. It shouldn't have an ambient room sensor, I don't see anything in the manual to indicate that. It was a "not-so-smart" television chosen specifically because it didn't have the fancy Smart features users seem to love, nor does it have wireless. And the problem only seems to occur when I turn on a light in the morning, ready to head off to ... well, you know where. Is it time for a firmware update? Does Panasonic really think that Peter Williams can improve my life just by listening to him?
