Current set up is a NAS, MiniDLNA server on a Core2Duo Ubuntu box, and a Sony BluRay player. This works fine for 95% of the files. However, more and more files are not supported by the Sony.MiniDLNA doesn't transcode, so I have been trying for hours to get Emby, Universal Media Server, and/or Plex running.Emby: Low quality. UMS: Same issue, no transcoding. Plex: too slow. This is just taking too much time, so I want to buy a media player. My most important feature is to play content from the NAS, either via DLNA, or directly via network (cable, not via WiFi(Things like online services (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) are a very nice-to-have. I have done a lot of research, and now I am looking at the Roku Premiere Plus: https://www.roku.com/products/roku-premiere-plusSee all file types supported here: https://support.roku.com/article/208754908-how-to-use-roku-media-player-to-play-your-videos-music-and-photosIt all seems to tick all the boxes, but I want to be 100% sure that it supports 99% of the file types out there. I could find one post of a guy where a certain file was not supported, but can't see toI have also been looking at the Popcorn Hour, as I know that used to be best media player in terms of file support. But it's more expensive, and it doesn't seem to be so popular anymore.I don't like Kodi BTW, as my experience is that you need a mouse. I've got a Kodi box with remote keyboard+mouse, and a remote, but I need the keyboard most of the times.Your experiences please!
