Does anyone know anything about Sony smart TV functions? I bought a Sony in a sale a few years ago because it seemed to offer the best quality for price at the time. I didn't care about the smart stuff and have just used it as a viewing platform for my STBs and computer. Now I have finally become curious about the Internet functions so I turned that on just to see what they did. My first impressions are not very favourable but I would really like to know what others think. Am I missing something after all?First there are the apps. There seem to be hundreds and hundreds of them with no way of deleting or hiding any of them. Most seem to be absolute rubbish, just filler crap I have never heard of with maybe a half dozen or so 'real' sites mixed in, like RT and Euronews, all of which I can easily get from other sources. I looked for ways of deleting or rearranging or adding to the app jungle but could find nothing. One of the apps is called 'Opera store'. I don't know if it has anything to do with the Opera browser. It is very buggy and tends to freeze everything up when I try to scroll through it. I was hoping I might be able to add Curiosity Stream from it but there seems to be little chance of that. All of the things it lists are just as obscure and pointless as the apps already installed.I checked out the Internet browser but all that does is shovel Sony advertising at me. I could not get it to work at all. There is a YouTube function that does work, but I can get that anywhere.Am I missing anything? I would love to be able to set up some of my favourite sites as TV apps but I don't see anything in this bloated Sony crap. Before I disconnect the Internet again, is there anything I am overlooking?
