Best 55" TV

So I've got the OK to upgrade our living room TV. Currently have a 55" LG 55LW4500 (2011!)

We use it for normal TV watching (SKY), PS4, and have an Amazon Fire TV (Netflix and Kodi).

I have not looked into TV tech for years and years now, and have no idea what's what. Can anyone recommend some TVs which would be good to upgrade to? We would need:

HDR

4K

Smart Apps (Netflix etc) - can there be issued with the media companies (like Netflix etc) abandoning support for different brands/models. Would like to avoid that if possible

Ability to change DNS at least - can you add VPN app of some sort to Smart TVs? (US Netflix)

Something that isn't going to be outdated quickly

Anything else I'm missing?

Don't really have a budget, I'm assuming $2k-$3K MAX can get something decent? This isn't hi-fi or home theatre.

I also don't know anything about OLED/LCD/Plasma etc.
