Hi there just wanted to share my experience about the purchase of my LG 60la6230 and LG's lovely customer support......Link http://www.lg.com/nz/tvs/lg-60LA6230Purchased it from the Appliance Shed Manukau about 3 months ago and right from the start had issues with LED flashlighting from the corners, especially during dark scenes or movies with cinema bars top and bottom. The problem was that it would come and go, at first as I just used it to watch normal TV and as most TV programs are bright and full 16:9 I never really noticed it and thought to my self it was OK. But as time went on and the more and more I started to watch movies from the USB the more annoying it became, to the point where my eyes would always be drawn to the corners. The issue would come and go, some days it would be not so noticeable and others it would just be in your face. I had played with all the picture settings turned down the back light, contrast brightness and even turned on the energy saving mode ( basically makes the TV brightness less and less ). It's strange because some days it just turns on the bleeding is so fricken bad, but after watching the TV for 2 hours or one movie I find the effect goes away. Then it would be OK for a while and then suddenly one day after not turning it on for a few hours or overnight I would turn it on and BAM super bad again... After umming and agghing with the TV for 3 months I realised that I paid $2400 for it and now live with the TV full time on energy saving mode with the picture setting with all the back lights and brightnesses turned down, and still it does this. and now for the picsVideos (Helps if you watch it full screen)http://vid467.photobucket.com/albums/rr31/bobby_zhoe/20140630_211401.mp4http://vid467.photobucket.com/albums/rr31/bobby_zhoe/20140630_211108.mp4http://vid467.photobucket.com/albums/rr31/bobby_zhoe/20140609_175145.mp4http://vid467.photobucket.com/albums/rr31/bobby_zhoe/20140630_211845.mp4What I have already done1) Contacted Appliance Shed who told me to contact LG2) Contact LG who told me to contact Authorised LG Repairer in Auckland3) Contacted Authorised Repairer who arranged for TV to be picked up from me4) got word back from Authorised Repairer saying there is nothing wrong with the TV along with a forwarded email from LG NZ explaining that IPS Panels should be only viewed straight on, never viewed in the dark and only in well lit room, also don't view the TV with out turning the picture setting down to standard and energy saving mode on ( which when I emailed the authorised repairer with the pictures explained I have already tried all those things )5) Rang LG Customer Support line to request a second assessment (Biggest waste of my time 3 weeks 10 phone calls and hours and hours of being passed around, being put on hold and still haven't even managed to get a supervisor to see my email with the pictures attached viewed... )6) Contacted Consumer Advice Bureau and got some friendly advice7) Rang back appliance shed who arranged LG NZ to have a second assessment with their senior technician8) Got email reply from senior tech saying that everything is within factory specification and again reiterates (LG TV's IPS Panels are not to be viewed in the dark and only in well lit rooms, only at perpendicular angles and at a certain distance, always watch the TV with the energy saving mode turned right down to medium.. which is way to dark for the day time and especially when watching 3D movies in the day or night. Also even after doing the things he has advised it is still normal to see light bleeding in corners, during scenes like title credits or cinema bars as the "TV is designed for Moving pictures only". What he doesn't realise even though I had included it into the email is that I have tried running the TV with all the backlight turned down and with energy saving mode turned on to medium and it still shows very noticeable back light bleeding in the corners. I have tried every single combination of settings with all types of media for the last 3 months.here is the picture he sent back to me with the TV being in factory specification9) still waiting for LG Customer support helpline (Aus) for someone to even look at the initial email that I've sent.... uselessWhen I spoke to the Consumer Advice bureau they pretty much told me that Appliance shed shouldn't have fobbed me off to LG as it's my right for them to deal with the issue, as they are the retailer. As for the response about only watching the TV in the dark is ridiculous as it a TV should be fit for the purpose it is designed for and free from any minor or major flaws. Banging my head on a wall here guys will go to appliance shed on monday to see what more they have to say... feeling pretty let down by LG at the moment. I currently own a Samsung 46inch, LG 32inch, and 3x24inch Samsung LED's in an eyefinity setup, I know some backlight bleeding is unavoidable but this amount is just at an unacceptable level.what's your guys opinion? would love to hear what you guys think!
