I have an older Yamaha home theatre receiver (2006) that has no HDMI inputs and outputs. I have a relatively late model Panasonic TV (2015) and thought I could use the optical audio output from the TV into the receiver and then I'd be able to get sound out of the TV into the amp but it doesn't work! This is mainly for Netflix. Has anyone got any ideas on how to get this to work? Is it even possible or am I just wasting my time? I don't really want to buy a new receiver as it's a good amp and works for everything I need apart from using the TV as the audio source.
