As the title suggests today is a good day in my house.I have spent the afternoon setting up my new LG OLED65C7T 65inch OLED tv and I have to say I am very impressed with the picture quality, even from good old Freeview.Had a quick play with the PS4 Pro, which highlighted a weak link in my setup, and OMG Project Cars 2 looked stunning. Now the weak link... My amp doesn't support 4k!! Not a major issue, just means I have to plug things directly into the TV rather than running via the amp. Was using optical out to the amp anyway so no change there.Compared to my now 4yo Panasonic VT65 plasma the picture quality is in another league. Yeah I know 1080 vs 4K it should be, but as mentioned even Freeview looks stunning.Got a very good price from Noel Leemings as they price matched a deal Harvey Norman had on. Went to Noels as they had one in stock. The salesman wasn't happy and mentioned that I got it about $500 less than cost!! So far a very happy camper.

Annoying Freeview Notification on Samsung 55" MU6100 UHD TV
Just got this TV: Samsung 55" MU6100 UHD TV (UA55MU6100SXNZ)It has this one annoying feature.A little widget/pop-up relating to Freeview OD keeps appearing in the top left side of the screen. This persists for about 10 seconds unless manually cleared (return key). It's annoying.Note: It isn't a program alert - just a notification telling us to press the red button to access Freeview.I looked in the TV settings and instruction manual but I can't see a way to turn it off.Does anyone know if it's possible to turn this TV off and if so how?

On Ear Bluetooth Headphones (Under $200 ish)
Over the years I have gone through quite a few pairs of Sennheiser on ear headphones, with the most common reason of moving onto a new pair was due to issues with the plug (general wear and tear)I've been looking at getting a pair of Wireless/Bluetooth headphones as my next replacement, but am having trouble finding something small/light/on earFor reference I am currently using Sennheiser HD 219 and also have a pair of HD 239s waiting Can anyone suggest anything similar to these Sennheisers, but around the $200 mark - anything Wireless by Sennheiser is too expensive for my budget

Tuning new Samsung TV ... should it be that hard?
Bought a new Samsung (UA55MU6100SXNZ).Got it home mounted, plugged went through set-up and updated the firmware. It all went smoothly.I then went to tune to Freeview satellite - no signal Scanned again - no signal. Checked co-ax connections - no signal. checked otehr Tv on same satellite dish - working just fine. This happened to me once before and all it took was a country change to fix it. I looked at settings but couldn't see anything relating to country. I wasn't asked to specify the country during set-up.I consulted the instruction manual. No help at all. The retailer had closed by this point. Some google-fu found Freeview technical docs. Some of the LNB settings did not look correct and the satellite was not correct either. However, the correct values were not available in the menus.A bit more searching menus and I found setting called Aerial, which allowed me to select Freeview Sat. Then the correct satellite and the correct values for other settings became available. Signal strength instantly jumped to about 80.I'm surprised it was that hard. I think a less technically minded person would have been unable to tune their TV. The TV is listed as Freeview approved so shouldn't it just plug in and tune? Are consumers really expected to go into advanced menus, just to get the TV to tune?

Sony Android TV YouTube login issue
Our Sony TV runs Android TV. I recently went into the YouTube app and it said I was not logged in. I clicked log in and nothing. It just for around in circles telling me I'm not logged in and yet not allowing me a screen to log in on.I removed my Google account and then re entered that but to no avail.Under settings, it also says Sync for the Google account is unavailable and will be available shortly, although it has said that for a month.Any suggestions?

Best 55" TV
So I've got the OK to upgrade our living room TV. Currently have a 55" LG 55LW4500 (2011!)We use it for normal TV watching (SKY), PS4, and have an Amazon Fire TV (Netflix and Kodi).I have not looked into TV tech for years and years now, and have no idea what's what. Can anyone recommend some TVs which would be good to upgrade to? We would need:HDR4KSmart Apps (Netflix etc) - can there be issued with the media companies (like Netflix etc) abandoning support for different brands/models. Would like to avoid that if possibleAbility to change DNS at least - can you add VPN app of some sort to Smart TVs? (US Netflix)Something that isn't going to be outdated quicklyAnything else I'm missing?Don't really have a budget, I'm assuming $2k-$3K MAX can get something decent? This isn't hi-fi or home theatre.I also don't know anything about OLED/LCD/Plasma etc.Oh and if you're reading this and want the old TV, send me an offer (Auckland).

Guidance on a replacement receiver to handle 4K HDR.
This was a big informative post, but it was rejected based on a non secure image and the whole post was lost. Nice. I need a replacement 4K capable receiver, for my older Onkyo TX-SR576 unit. The new TV is 4K HDR capable, and we have an Xbox One S unit. Am after experiences/recommendations for something that meets these requirements: - Cheap- 4K- HDR capable (requires hdmi 2.0a?)- 5.1 and then ideally: - Zone 2 (for outside speakers)- Microphone Calibration Setup. (I have in wall speakers that frankly need this). Don't need many inputs, as mostly just Xbox and Tivo or similar plugging in now.Borderline tempted to run these direct to the TV and run sound separately to a basic receiver, but you don't tend to get the HD audio that way. Thoughts and feelings appreciated. Labour day sales might hopefully offer something, or could even go second hand if it met the requirements and someone was legit upgrading.Thanks.

4K Content on Plex
Hi teamI have a file server at home where I've put, a whole lot of home videos in various resolutions and encoding, such as H264 and H265. They're in all kinds of formats, mainly so I can test what does/doesn't work on my devices. The server runs Plex Media Server, and has been doing so happily for ages. Content up to 1080p streams very nicely both Direct to devices in my home network, and externally to family via my Plex Pass account.Recently I have been playing around with 4K content as I just purchased a 65" LG 4K HDR telly (which is all kinds of awesome!). The TV runs the WebOS Plex Smart TV app. When playing 4K Plex content it seems to have a hard time. It'll buffer quite regularly is the main complaint. I have an AC WiFi connection at home which is working very well, and the server is connected to the switch via gigabit ethernet and gigabit ports, which are also gigabit to the Access Point. I figured WiFi would be the issue here, struggling to maintain the right Mbps throughput for the 4K content (some of which is around 50Mbps encoding). So I tried ethernet direct from the TV to the switch. Therefore I have gigabit from source to player. This also has problems, though I suspect the TV only has a 100Mbps port - it should still be plenty given ethernet is far more sustainable than WiFi. H264 content direct playing does work a lot better, but still buffers every 30-60 seconds. H265 content needs to transcode and buffers pretty much every 15 seconds. I wondered if my server was at fault with its transcoding, but it's never had a problem before. I noticed it was overheating a lot, so I got a new CPU cooler and it's working very nicely now. It can regularly transcode 6+ streams of 1080p with no issues, so a single 4K transcode should be fine!I wondered if my Plex Smart TV app was at fault, so tested on the the Xbox app, and it does the same. The browser doesn't seem to support 4K, and I haven't yet tested the iOS app. The TV plays Netflix 4K with zero issues at all. Does anyone have any advice? I feel like I've covered all my bases so far.

Video buffering on WDTV Live via WiFi
I have Spark VDSL broadband and I use the wireless router supplied by Spark, plus a Synology DiskStation connected to the Spark router by ethernet cable, plus a WDTV Live media player connected to the router via wifi.Recently, I've experienced significant buffering when trying to play some video files from the DiskStation through the WDTV - which surprised me as it's all within my home LAN, so I expected the router would be able to cope transferring wireless to the WDTV (they are in the same room, only 4 metres apart). Any ideas why this is occuring? I'm keen to eliminate the buffering, so am thinking of either:running a separate ethernet between the Spark router and the WDTV live (ie. DiskStation - ethernet - router - ethernet - WDTV), orpurchasing a quality router capable of sending via wifi without buffering. Any feedback on why buffering might be occurring, and appropriate fix is appreciated.

Panasonic DX740 flickering - covered by warranty but...
Hello,Just posting here for thoughts on this situation as I find it quite "interesting"We bought a Panasonic DX740 TV back in March, and it has recently started - at totally random intervals - flickering...total screen flickering to the point where it is unwatchable, but after a period of time (seconds to minutes) it will sort itself out. Its not related to any inputs because I can changed to different inputs or just the TV itself and it still does it. I have powered it off/on and no difference. So I contacted Panasonic, they directed me towards their warranty contractors (Teletech) and I contacted them to hear their thoughts (sending them details and a video of it happening). They are sending someone round today to take a look at it. If they can't replicate it, they will take it away to replicate it. Then fix once they have identified the problem. The part that I find interesting is that it is totally random. It can happen weeks apart, or days, or hours, there is no predicting it. So does this mean that they will take the TV away for an indeterminate time and we will be left to read books and stare at the wall or some other activity not related to a TV. It seems a little unreasonable to take it away...but I also see from their perspective that they need to see it before being able to fix it...I am wondering if I should just take it back to the retailer and get them to handle it? What are peoples thoughts on this?Cheers

75" 4k Veon TV - picture quality?
I've seen that The Warehouse now have a 75" 4k Veon for $2,499 which is basically half what you'll pay for any other 75" tv? I'm interested to know if anyone has brought this TV or the 55" counterpart (VPS55UHD) which I assume uses the same panel/internals. I'm only really interested in the TV for viewing as I already have a surround sound system and use chromecast for smart tv functions.

Using wireless video
As an easy means to get my TV recordings from one room to another where the main TV is, I am trying to use a wireless video sender/receiver set up.The picture is pretty good (5.8GHz and selectable channels), but getting loud buzzing noise over TV speakers.Have tried moving all the obvious devices that might cause such interference, and the buzzing is louder on one channel more than the other ... it's a composite video with L/R audio using RCA plugs. It may be my imagination, but the buzzing seems to vary as I wave the TV remote about Anyone encountered this problem? Suggestions (be nice ) would be appreciated.Tks.

Panasonic TV not working properly
Hi
We have a 2 yo Panasonic 55in 4K UHD TV. When I switch it on from the side panel it comes on for 5 seconds , shows what the mode is and just switches off straight away. No picture visible, the remote doesn't turn it on or off and then seems to go straight into stand by mode, I presume this as only there is a blinking light on the front panel but no picture or sound.
Anyone have an idea as to what it could be, it's out of warranty and I got it from Noel Leeming..
Cheers
Iain
